Motodrome are pleased to offer this 1981 example of the ever-popular Land Rover Lightweight (Air Portable), this one a 12V example, finished in the original camoflage drab.
The odometer reading is just 34000 miles, and it’s had just 2 previous owners since being civilian registered in 1992, including just one owner since 1993.
Oozing that sought-after original patina, it’s fitted with a matching set of Goodyear 650-16 all-terrain tyres, front and rear NATO towhooks, towbar, civilian spec front seats, twin rear bench seats, and an interesting array of radio gear including transmitters/receivers and wing aerial amplifiers. .
It’s full of character , and comes with MOT until December 2012 and road tax to the end of June 2012 too

The body and paintwork on this one are very dent-free by older Land Rover standards, and whilst the paint is to 'distressed ex military' standard it looks, as above, very authentic and patinated. . I'd be surprised if, apart from some localised areas like rear crossmember (which has been replaced according to the paperwork) , it's been painted since leaving Army service. Very little electrolytic reaction anywhere. See video for more details. I suspect both corners of the upper part of the bulkhead have had work - certainly there's some evidence of welding on the offside which might benefit from being tidied up a bit . Both doortops have some rust (especially the nearside one) but neither are floppy. Obviously expect slightly wavy panels and minor imperfections etc - it's still an older Landy after all that and blemishes give it character, but apart from the above, there's little to criticise save for a small rust hole in the NSF wing closing panel The hood is, I believe, an original military one. The rear window has some splits in it and is slightly opaque, but we've left it on the truck as it looks correct. A spare, less weathered, tilt comes with it. . . See video
Interior – military-correct dash etc, the only changes being the military front seats have been replaced with later Land Rover vinyl ones. Rear benches good. I can't say if the radio equipment inside is original, but it all seems to be bolted down properly. Unusually, all the gauges work properly. See video
Started on the button and performed very well indeed on a 20-mile test run - with no overheating, a fairly precise gearbox etc, decent steering & braking (by Lightweight standards) , & minimal transmission backlash. Little really to criticise!. ... . See video
