Motodrome are pleased to offer this 1973 (1972 built hence road tax free) example of the ever-popular Land Rover Series III, this one an 88in petrol softtop, refinished in Bronze Green with tan Exmoor Trim hood
An original 2.25 petrol model, it’s had just one enthusiastic owner since 1995 who’s lavished money on it. In 2000 it underwent a full galvanised chassis fitment by Crow Engineering, and in 2010 it underwent a serious mechanical refurbishment by Glencoyne Engineering. There’s a massive sheaf of bills and old MOT’s from 1995 which show it’s only covered approx 10000 miles since 1995.
It’s specification includes the following:
Galvanised chassis & front bumper
Overdrive and freewheel front hubs
New Exmoor trim hood with side windows
Matching set of 4 Avon rangemaster 750x16 tyres
Chequerplate to wingtops
Front lightguards
Towpack & front towball
Military doortops.
Inside there are Exmoor trim type high back cloth front seats with matching cubbybox and twin rear bench seats making it a 6 seater,
Odometer reading 18000 miles, presumably 118000, not that it matters given the work carried out.

I’ve owned and driven several Series III models over the years, and this is one of the nicest, most well-sorted examples l’ve had.
And of course, being petrol, it’s LEZ compliant.

The body and paintwork on this one are very straight by Land Rover standards, and whilst the paint hasn't been applied by spraygun or roller it still looks pretty smart, with a deep finish and a good shine. Very little electrolytic reaction anywhere. See video for more details. Both scuttle ends look spot on, both A post bases too. . Both doors have a little rust in their bottom frames but are otherwise good. The underbonnet splash panels are a bit frilly but this isn't structural and new ones just bolt in if you feel the need. Obviously expect slightly wavy panels and minor imperfections etc - it's still an older Landy after all that and blemishes give it character, but apart from the above, there's little to criticise save for: some small dinks in the wings and doors. Interior – excellent seats front and rear, no nasty smells etc. A couple of small splits in the dashtop is all that detracts. See video
Started on the button and performed without apparent fault on test - with no overheating, hesitancy or misfiring, a nice precise gearbox etc, sharp steering & braking, minimal transmission backlash & an unusually quiet overdrive . Nothing really to criticise!. ... . See video
