Tested until 7th May 2012. (All MOT certificates are
available since 1999.)
The vehicle is taxed until the end of October 2012.
The Road Tax will not be automatically included unless the “Buy It
Now” threshold price is reached. However, subject to the purchaser wanting to
include the outstanding VED. I will charge each full month remaining at
1/12 of the annual VED rate on top of the final bid
price.
Description.
Series lll short wheel base Landrover, with
21/4 petrol engine, fitted with an overdrive and Weber
carburettor.
The chassis and outriggers are sound. They have all been cleaned
off, painted and sprayed with wax preservative. This chassis is rechecked each
year after the winter and remedial work undertaken. The chassis has had some
welding repairs but I have only had to carry out one small patch
repair.
The bulkhead is sound. I have drilled the bulkhead in the area near
the windscreen (weak point) and I routinely spray inside with wax each
year.
There is some light corrosion on the wings. (See
photos)
All tyres, including the spare are road legal, see
photos.
The vehicle still has its original jack, brace and starting
handle!
When work is undertaken and where appropriate, nuts and bolts have
been routinely changed for stainless steel
replacements.
History
Bought by me and a friend in 2002. After installing a rear half
chassis, new rear springs dampers, foot wells etc., sold it to my Dad. He has owned it for
the last 10 years but now needs space on his drive for a replacement Land
Rover.
Work undertaken on this Landy over the last 10 years
include;
New petrol tank, radiator, second hand overdrive, alternator,
refurbished starter motor, coil, Weber carburettor, inner wings and bulkhead to
chassis supports.
In the last 3 years both steering swivels have been rebuilt with
new swivels, seals, bearings etc. Note these still continue to contain oil and
are not filled with grease!
Serviced with high quality oils every year for the past 10 years.
All brake cylinders replaced. The bulk of the solid brake pipes are
now copper.
Miscellaneous steering joints, oil seals, speedo cable, washer
pump, lights, lenses, brake light switch & consumables e.g. brake shoes, fan
belt, wipers, exhausts etc. Wing mirrors converted to Defender
type.
Extras
Passenger side step, sun visors, inside light, reversing light,
front and rear mudflaps.
Known problems
The rear axle oil seal is weeping. This leak is not excessive and I
have not had to add any oil since the summer. A replacement seal is contained
within the Landy Spares pack.
The clutch flexible hose is weeping. This has recently started and
is not excessive but I am checking the fluid level on a weekly basis. I have
purchased the replacement hose but have not had time to fit it because of time
and weather constraints. The replacement hose is contained within the Landy
Spares pack.
