As Standard with this model of The Range Rover Dynamic Stability Control – Electronic Traction Control The four-wheel Electronic Traction Control (ETC) monitors individual wheel speeds and cleverly distributes drive to the wheels that have the best traction. Should a wheel begin to spin, ETC instantly sends braking pulses to help slow it down until it grips again. At the same time, torque is applied to the opposite wheel and reduces the speed of the vehicle safely. Cruise Control Operated via buttons on the steering wheel, cruise control allows the driver to select a speed, which the Range Rover will then maintain, smoothly and without using the brake pedal or accelerator. The system is indispensable on long journeys and often results in better fuel efficiency. The system can be overridden manually via the steering wheel buttons, or by the accelerator and brake pedals. Drive Select with Paddle Shift (Diesel Only) An eight-speed automatic transmission, incorporating Drive Select with Paddle Shift, is fitted to all vehicles with new 4.4 litre LR-TDV8 Diesel engines. This features both the convenience of a rotary selector, which rises from the centre console as soon as the ignition is switched on, as well as the opportunity for the driver to manually select gears via the Paddle Shift controls on the steering wheel. Terrain Response® Optimisation Switch Patented Terrain Response® technology helps the driver confidently conquer gravel, grass, snow, rocks, and tarmac. By simply choosing the appropriate icon on the conveniently positioned selector, the engine, transmission, suspension, and traction settings are instantly reconfigured for optimum driveability in all conditions. This driving technology takes yet another step forward with Gradient Acceleration Control and Hill Start Assist. Gradient Acceleration Control prevents situations where the vehicle might accelerate too quickly on a steep gradient (and Hill Descent Control has not been selected), allowing the driver time to regain control. Hill Start Assist automatically releases brake pressure on a steep gradient and prevents the vehicle from inadvertently rolling backwards. Permanent four-wheel-drive Centre electronic differential with low range transfer box Diesel Mis-Fuelling Protection Device Options and Upgrades for this model of The Range Rover Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) The new 2011 Range Rover has a further refined Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) which provides even earlier identification of vehicles that may move into your path. This third-generation ACC system uses 12 beams to scan the road ahead 10 times every second, making it one of the most advanced systems available. It also offers more progressive deceleration, resets more accurately and is better able to indentify smaller road users, such as motorcycles, against larger vehicles and trucks. The ACC can be programmed to one of four settings. These are between 1.0 and 2.2 second intervals from the vehicle in front in normal driving conditions and when either Grass, Gravel or Snow are selected on the Terrain Response® dial. The ACC is also complemented by Forward Alert and Advanced Emergency Brake Assist (AEBA), all working together to help avoid a collision, in the first instance, by giving audible and visual alerts. Should an impact become inevitable, the AEBA with full ABS is triggered. This typically saves up to two-thirds of the time of the normal emergency brake assist system. Rear Electronic Differential (only with Adaptive Dynamics) Suspension and Steering Suspension and Steering Air suspension, standard on every Range Rover, works with Terrain Response® to provide sublime handling, comfort and capability. The new Surround Camera System uses five digital cameras, discreetly placed around the vehicle, to provide an almost complete 360 degree, real-time view of the surrounding area on the Touch-screen. The technology is also perfectly suited to providing help with more complex driving assignments such as towing a yacht or horsebox. The Blind Spot Monitor is an innovative new system that uses side-mounted radar sensors to survey any blind spots and alert the driver to vehicles detected within this area. Additionally, Automatic High Beam Assist (AHBA) is incorporated into the front headlight system to make night driving an altogether more relaxing experience. For instance, the high beam headlights can automatically switch on when external light levels dip below a certain threshold. Importantly, AHBA is also designed to detect preceding and approaching traffic, and in a split second will alternate between high and dipped beams to avoid dazzling others while maximising driver visibility. Named the Range Rover Evoque, this all-new coupé will join the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport line-up in the summer of 2011. It will be the smallest, lightest and most fuel efficient Range Rover ever produced. Customers have a choice of both a 4WD and a 2WD version, with a sub 130g/km CO2 demonstrating the Range Rover brand's commitment to environmental sustainability. Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover said: "Today is a very special occasion for Range Rover, not only are we celebrating 40 years of the brand, we are also demonstrating our exciting future by showing the all-new Range Rover Evoque.
