on, a 1993 Tomcat 100 with 200TDi power | This one was built in 2005 by someone who really new what they were doing, and it’s covered around 40000 miles since build in his hands plus one other, which is a testament to it’s everyday useability, from a Discovery 200TDi donor, so all the grubby bits are proven parts for ease of maintenance. | Full spec in writing on request (too long to list here without boring everyone) but highlights include a recent set of 5 Cooper 33in mud-terrain tyres on modular rims, and working EP9 Superwinch with remote control, and heated front screen. Also fitted with detachable adjustable towbar. | All the paperwork since build is present (inc DVLA inspection) and it nips along very smartly with good punch from the uprated 200TDi motor, which, we are given to understand from the original builder, has now done approx 70000 miles, with the cambelt last being replaced in 2007 when it had done 30000 miles. Last serviced circa 6000 miles ago in Summer 2011, and although it has MOT to September 2012, at the asking price we will supply it with a full 12 months MOT, and it has road tax to end August 2012 too | On a 50-mile test on arrival it perfomed without apparent fault and I’m continuing to use it on a regular basis, it’s that good. And, of course, it’ll go across pretty much any terrain – that’s what they were designed for. Please don`t mistake this one for a lash-up like some that are out there - this one was built with great attention to detail, but to be useable and (relatively) civilised! | . | Further detail: | The body was built with good attention to detail including high-quality fixtures and fittings. There are no dents as all the bendable bits are either GRP or rubber, but there are the usual hedge scratches etc down the sides as befits a proper off-roader, and the paintwork is best described as functional - but you don`t buy one of these for their beauty. Chassis and running gear look superb. All I can really criticise is a a small chunk has gone from the NSR eyebrow, and some paint loss from the winch bumper . . See video | Interior – again, really well thought out and built, and using all the Discovery instruments and switchgear so everything`s familiar. A pair of very comfortable Subaru bucket seats and four point harnesses. Obviously the doors come off for summer motoring too. | See video | Starts on the button hot or cold and performed utterly superbly on test - with a very nice willing engine with no hesitancy or overheating, nice gearbox and brakes, sharp steering, and no noticeable transmission backlash. Nothing really to criticise except the charge light is always glowing a bit - this seems to be due to the twin battery split charge set up, and the alternator is certainly working and doing a proper job . . . .. .
