the road as our 2nd car. It has now been replaced in this role by a more comfortable and much warmer Discovery. It has been stood for about a year and I was very surprised when it did not start immediately when I came to try it last week. It has always been a reliable starter up to now. I have checked for diesel at the filter, and the lift pump is OK. SOLD AS NON-RUNNER although I will try to start it again when I have the time. The engine does not drip oil or water. It used to give light smoke when first started which cleared after a bit of use. The chassis needs a rear crossmember welding on, a second hand good one is included in the sale, and may also need the odd patch as well. Body panels are beaten up but serviceable. The side doors have no windows and the frames are quite rotten. Mirrors are cracked. The alloy windscreen hinge is badly corroded. The bulkhead is mostly good but fuel filter mounts are torn. Roof is good, rear cab and rear door windows are good Hub oil seals weep slightly. Clutch pedal pivot is stiff but clutch works fine (master cylinder was replaced). Gearbox and transfer box all work OK. Front prop replaced a while back. Brakes seem to work and the handbrake holds on a hill. Its on 4 x wolf rims with 235 tyres (worn). No power steering to go wrong. Heating controls are seized full on, but with no side windows you hardly notice any warmth - does de-mist windscreen though. Heater blower works. Wipers flop around but do wipe. Electrics OK apart from rear loom disconnected at cross-member. Alternator works. Electric engine cooling fan fitted. Spot lights tied on with string. Some indicator and side light lens missing. I don`t have a good battery to go with it. It was originally a pick-up but now has a county style cab, with new seat-belt mounts and a side hinge back door. Two Britpart bench seats are fitted in the back. It has lots of chequer plate on the bonnet,wings,skirt and on the boot floor. I still have the old tail-gate if required and a good passenger door with wind-up window (make me a separate offer for these). The engine starts first time every time, pulls well, and is generally very healthy, starting correctly even at -7C recently. The gearbox is excellent, with good synchromesh, a light change, and NO EXCESS BACKLASH!! The transfer box does exactly as it should with correct operation of 4WD system, Hi and Low range, and Diff Lock. The vehicle has a good battery, good tyres, and handles as it should on and off road.
