As im sure you are aware these cars are quite expensive to run and this is why he decided to get rid of it. He bought the car late 2010 and has looked after it very well, adding the 20" new shape 2012 RR wheels which do make it look stunning.Have a look on here, the wheels alone are worth 1200 pounds I have driven the car myself this week and it seems to drive well with everything working as it should do. The car is 12 years old and is in very good condition but it does have the odd age related mark around it, slight wear on the drivers seat, a few light scratches etc but as i say it is in very good condition. I think its got to be one of the best looking P38 Range Rovers I have seen with lots of extras having been added on when new and also over the years since new. The "V" parts of the Range Rover badges are missing front and rear for some reason but I have ordered new ones to replace them, so that should be done this week also. The last service was done at 125,000 miles so it is due a service now which will be done also this week before i will let it go as i like to do this to any car i sell for piece of mind. A deposit will secure the car and I will also put 6 months tax on the car if it sells for the asking price as it is due to run out at the end of this month. The range rover has freestyle alloy wheels with a full set of goodyear tyres, an aftermarket immobiliser, a lpg tank fitted in the boot and a partially complete frond end kit. (Land Rover and Specialist), last serviced 3000 miles ago | - Cruise, Climate, Tilt & Slide Sunroof, full leather, heated windscreen, electric memory seats, multi speaker hifi etc | - Full MOT, road tax until July 2012 | - Range Rover Sport 19” alloys with 4 matching Goodyear Wrangler HP tyres 255 55 R19 M+S marking – these are all season tyres. They are only lightly used so around 80% tread remaining. | I bought this car last winter from the owner of a specialist independent Land Rover Workshop near Chester, it was his personal car and he got it from a member of his family. It has done us proud, but we need to get a 7 seater, so unfortunately it has to be sold. This is a very honest, high spec P38 in an attractive and unusual slate grey/blue colour. It has a great service history and has had lots of care and attention, and has a low mileage for the year of around 94,000. It has had a clear indicator upgrade and tinted windows. | It is a great drive, with sharp steering, smooth and powerful and good ride comfort. I have previously owned a Discovery 2 V8 and a new shape L322 Range Rover 4.4 V8, both of advanced years, but this P38 has been on balance the best combination of reasonable purchase cost, performance, luxury and running costs with the LPG. The low ratio gearbox selects and drives correctly (some won`t transfer due to lack of use), I test it out on gravel occasionally. I have not off-roaded in it, and I doubt it has been off road - I took photos of the underside while it was on a ramp, and it is really clean and tidy, no scrapes or scuffs. | The general condition of bodywork and interior is very good. There are a few light scratches on the paint, as you would expect at this age, and it has been touched up in one or two places. The interior is very sound, no pets or smoking, and the leather is in good condition. There are Land Rover rubber mats fitted, the carpets underneath are clean. | With enthusiast’s cars like these, my opinion is that it is always better to buy a car that can show it has had the inevitable problems properly rectified, like this one, than a car that is seemingly perfect. I have tried that before and got burnt. I can`t promise there won`t be future problems, but you are buying from someone who cares about cars, enjoys working on them, and fixes problems when they appear. | The air suspension has been replaced with coil springs all round by the last owner. The ride height is now no longer adjustable, but this removes the potential huge bills involved in fixing the air suspension system. Coils don’t go wrong! The ride is a bit firmer than with the air system, but the handling is very good – very little body roll, and other P38’s I have driven with the normal air system definitely felt a bit wallowy sometimes. I looked at some X5’s before buying this car, and their ride is so hard it is a joke sometimes, so this RR fits nicely between the two extremes. | It has a single point LPG system with a tank in the spare wheel well. The system works perfectly, although I have found that it is better to run for a few miles on petrol before switching over, as it can stall when stone cold on LPG. Once warm it is fine. Costs around £38 to fill up (71p/litre), and I have managed to get 200 miles on a tankful on a long trip. It has an inspection certificate from 2006, and I have had a local LPG specialist check it over recently. His opinion is that the system, while not the latest, is in good order, didn`t need attention, and there is no point considering upgrades or changes – while it works, leave it alone, he said! I don`t have any newer paperwork than 2006, before you ask. | In the time the last owner (workshop owner) had it, he fixed up lots of little problems on the car, and I felt very reassured to be buying from a guy who clearly knew his way around these cars and had looked after this one. After running it for a month or so it became clear that there was a slight head gasket leak (a bit of poor starting was the main symptom, with the coolant level gradually dropping) which turned out to be a small failure of the gasket allowing some coolant into one cylinder. There were absolutely no overheating issues. I took the car back to his workshop, even though it was a private sale (no warranty) and he was good enough to replace the gaskets at a reduced rate in March this year. This was a bit annoying, and expensive, but I was actually glad to get it done, as it is now not a concern. He did a proper job, pressure testing the heads, checking for flatness etc and I have had no further issues. Please note though that there is no ongoing warranty implied with this. | Most P38’s of this age will suffer engine problems – common ones are head gaskets and slipped cylinder liners. The workshop owner confirmed while the heads were off that the liners looked fine, so you have the reassurance that these were checked. Personally I would always prefer to buy a car that had had such work done properly, rather than a car that appears never to have had a problem. ALL old P38`s have problems sooner or later! | It has the Harmon Kardon hifi system with an aftermarket head unit, correctly wired up. Sounds great and you can connect an iPod. | There are a couple of little jobs I haven`t done: | - Heated seats don’t work – the switches illuminate and the relays click, showing the system is functioning, but there are probably broken wires under the seats, another common P38 problem. | - One key fob works fine, the other was damaged when I got it. Replacements are available from dealers, but not cheap. condition throughout, Electic roof, Power Steering, Air con, Late Discovery 2 16" Alloys with excellent tyres. Runs and drives very well, i`ve covered 1000`s of miles myself as i`ve owned it for nearly 15 years, been off the road for a few years as it was replaced with a Disco series 2 V8. Engine is sweet no smoke rattles or leaks, the Automatic box is smooth and the 4wd engages as it should. It`s been started and driven around the yard regularly but will need a new battery. Will need welding and brake pipes for the MOT, mainly rear X- Member and some on inner wings. Sills have been done previously (replaced) but may require a couple of patches. There is a new rear X-Member included in the asking price as well as new headlamps and rear springs. Body is very good for the year apart from the tailgate and a dent on the rear o/s door, interior is also very good (headlining dropped) the seats aren`t worn but it needs a clean but will come up nice. It has a drop plate towbar, bull bar (and side steps included if i can find them). It also has fitted a professional hub conversion to be able to take the later Discovery and Range Rover wheels, these cost a small fortune and will fit other Land Rovers. Its sat on Discovery series 2 wheels with excellent Pirelli Scorpion tyres. All in all a good project to return to the road, use for green laning or a wealth of spares, It`s been looked after and i`ve spent £100`s keeping it in shape over the years until I purchased a replacement 4X4 and did want to get it back on the road but time and other projects are in the way. MOTs back to 2006, last serviced by me around the middle of last year. The bodywork is in good straight condition. The car is finished in metallic Oxford Blue with an ivory leather interior with navy blue piping and navy blue carpets. It has 18`` alloys with good Michelin M&S tyres. The air suspension works perfectly. The car has all the usual Vogue extras, including climate control, electric sunroof, electric seats – even electric headrests! I purchased this last year as a second car but I liked it so much that I sold my main car and bought a newer-model Range Rover. I have covered around 7000 miles in it. It drives very well and is a lovely comfortable place to travel. It has had a brand new battery within the past couple of weeks, and I have replaced the rear air springs and the brake accumulator. Brand new Pioneer Radio/CD/MP3/iPod head unit fitted 6 months ago, using all the original Harman Kardon speakers (16, I think!). The towbar was fitted only last year and has only been used for transporting motorcycles. The car passed it’s MOT first time in September. Minus points? The heated seats don’t work, and never have since I owned the car, and the cruise control doesn’t work. I believe both are common faults. Neither of these detract from the car or affect the way it drives and performs. The wheels have been repainted although some scuffs are still visible, but nothing bad (see pictures). The paintwork is fine although would benefit from a thorough polish, and the mirrors have minor scuffs on the edges. I can`t think of any other negative points but if you want to ask me any questions, I`ll answer them as best I can. Viewing welcome. truck at the start of December in the hope that my wife would drive it as well and we could reduce our vechiles, she won`t drive it and it is hence for sale. Don`t be put off, it really is a tidy one. | It has plenty of service history and past bills etc, they show that the air bags have been changed and a new compressor fitted. It has not wanted for much and it shows. The interior is cream leather, no rips, heated seats, electric windows, cruise control etc etc | The body work looks great for an old truck, hasn`t been abused or used off road, has a private plate which make it stand out a bit, no rust or bubbling. | Manual so better MPG, also 15 years old so can be insured through classic car policy. | The passenger window needs a little encouragement to go back up, sometimes you need to `wiggle` the key when you remove it or the truck still thinks its in. The EAS air suspension will work fine for a few weeks but every now and then it will flash up EAS error on the dash. When this happens the car doesn`t drop, doesn`t handle any differently you just can`t lower or raise the truck. When you pull over and turn the car off, wait 5 minutes and then start again it all works fine. The local garage can`t find anything wrong. 2010. I am selling this vehicle as my Overfinch P38 which died back in 2010 has finally been fixed and this was a temporary replacement and as I already have 2 other classics it is no longer needed. Reluctant sale as I have been told I can`t have everything and we could do with the space. | Whenever I purchase a vehicle I go through them mechanically to make sure everything is ok. As the engine had done 126,000 miles back in Oct 2010 when I bought it, I decided to rebuild the top end of the engine as the camshafts suffer badly with wear. | The engine was stripped down, camshaft replaced with a new performance cyclone camshaft, new cam followers, Cloyes street true roller speed set timing chain and sprockets. | The heads were stripped, cleaned and checked for warping, reassembled and refitted. The bores were also checked for wear and all was ok, all other components were cleaned before reassembly. | Compression test was at an average of 145psi. New genuine cap, 8mm silicone leads from Real Steel and genuine rotor arm fitted. | At the moment there is a mallory electronic distributor fitted with mallory coil and ballast resistor fitted. Chassis is fine. Also has an aluminium upper tailgate.
