for this motor for years never thinking it would turn up. It was first registered for road use the very same day I was born. I never, ever thought I`d be puting it up for sale but times change and needs must.Just about everything big that needs done has been done. Loads of receipts will come with it. I hate to think how much has been spent on this. Oh, what I have just remembered is that the front windscreen is a bit unusual. You`ll see in the photo that the panes fold out. My understanding is that these were fitted to South African Forward Controle`s; usefull feature if you like lamping or just the wind in your face. Got the safari roof too. Salisbury rear axle. The driver side wing mirror is off a defender and is a huge improvement over the original, I have a new near side unit I always ment to get round to fitting to the hinge - I`ll include this in the sale too.Few questions been asked. Engine had, if I remember, 127k on it when I bought it. Was given a good going over by the engineer who fitted it and a new timimng belt at that point. Get about 35mpg out of it.No real idea of a buy it now price but have spoken to people with an understanding of the work and expence that has gone in to this. I`m going to let the auction run and see what happens.This auction is for a sale, not to view, and it is advertised else where so I reserve the right to end early. Internally, it has 3 high back rear seats, centre cubby box, and an immobiliser. | Odometer reading 153000 miles, and it comes with MOT to December 2012, and road tax to end November 2012 also. | On test on arrival it performed without apparent fault. | . | Further detail: | The body and paintwork on this one are rather straight by Land Rover standards (with just a couple of minor dinks in the barrelsides) , and the paint could best be described as functional having been applied by an agricultural engineering company more used to spraying tractors. . Very little electrolytic reaction, but there is some overspray etc on door rubbers etc. . See video for more details. Both scuttle ends and A posts etc look very good indeed. The front doors are either fairly new or very well-renovated, the rear doors have had repairs to their upper frames in the usual place but are rusty in the bottom frames, but should be good for a few years yet. The tailgate bottom frame is slightly rusty but the same applies here. Obviously expect slightly wavy panels and minor imperfections etc - it`s still an older Landy after all that and blemishes give it character, but apart from the above, there`s little to criticise save for: a slight depression to the bonnet & a slight dink to the front NS corner, a slight dink to the NS B post, and some electrolytic reaction to the tailgate and base of the OSR door . . See video | Interior – pretty good and reasonably clean - all the county trim survives intact including the front carpets, although they are a bit tired now. Front headlining looks fairly new. . . . the engine out and scrap the rest, but then I took a closer look at it. The result being that after a couple of hours work it now has a brand new MoT. I just couldn`t bring myself to scrap it.Good points first: the condition of the inner body structure on this vehicle is, by Disco standards, awesome. For the MoT I had to weld up one of the rear body mounts (shown in one of the photos), and patch the boot floor. That is the only welding this vehicle has ever had. Inner wings, sills, floors, rear arches, seat belt mounts, all the places where Discos normally rot are original and rock solid. This is highly unusual as you will know if you have ever had anything to do with old Discos. The chassis is absolutely 100% sound and unwelded. It looks as though the vehicle has been heavily Waxoyled at some stage in its life - that and the fact that it has been dry stored for the last seven years probably explain why it is so good. If you are looking for a solid basis for a project, you will not find a sounder, more rot free Disco than this. The only rot I can find is in the boot floor (mainly above the fuel tank where it cannot be seen from underneath) and the little panels below the headlamps which are non-structural.Engine and gearbox both seem very sound, at least on the short drive to the MoT station and back. Engine pulls very strongly with almost no smoke, gearbox seems quiet and changes gear smoothly, high/low ratio and diff lock all work as they should. Axles, suspension, steering etc all look fine. I have no history at all with the vehicle, and would recommend that the new owner gives it a full service and timing belt change before putting it into regular use. I can quote for this work if required.All the electrics seem to work including the electric windows and central locking (although the door locks are very stiff, probably through lack of use). There is a stereo sticking half-out of the centre console, but I haven`t got round to seeing whether it works. I treated it to a new pair of wiper blades for the MoT.Tyres are 205R16s on standard Discovery steels. One of the fronts is a bit perished, I have a decent tyre and a Disco rim which I will put on it, so you can keep the perished tyre as a spare. On to the bad points: the vehicle is in what a vintage tractor collector would call "ex-farm condition". In other words the interior is absolutely filthy, the seats are ripped, every single piece of interior trim seems to be either broken or missing, and the vehicle smells of mice. The drivers seat base has collapsed so you sit in it rather than on it. It is truly a horrible place to be. Your wife will refuse to travel in it, you can leave it unlocked in complete safety because no-one is going to want to get into it, not even a tramp looking for somewhere to doss down for the night. The good news is that with so many rotten Discos being broken, people with interior stuff can barely give it away, so it should not cost too much to find a better set of seats. The carpets actually seem OK.Body panels - fairly straight, but usual Disco scabby aluminium corrosion on wings and doors, especially nearside rear door. Bumpers are rusty and the paint is falling off them. The pictures flatter the vehicle - it looks worse in real life. Decent panels are not hard to find, and the vehicle is in one of the more popular Disco colours. In any case, a good T Cut and polish, and some better bumpers, would have it looking much smarter for very little money.As mentioned above it has been stored unused since 2005, and probably didn`t get a lot of love in the period before that. So it really needs a full service. The brake discs have a fair amount of surface corrosion (MoT advisory) and although they passed the MoT, the brakes aren`t as sharp as they might be. They might improve with use.To summarise - a solid, strong old Disco that has a full year`s MoT and isn`t going to need £1200 worth of welding a year from now. A couple of hundred quid and a couple of weekends work should be enough to turn this into something very nice and worth keeping.Just to remind you: this is a private sale, I am advertising this on behalf of a friend. That means no warranty. I have done nothing to the vehicle beyond what was needed to get it through the MoT and cannot make any promises about its mechanical condition. It is a nineteen year old Land Rover which has been well-used. The snorkel in the picture has been removed and is currently for sale on ebay. Also, the land rover is back on normal suspension as when I bought it, it had 2" inch lift spring. The speedometer has also recently stopped working even though a new cable was fitted (it could just be the pinion at the gearbox end of the cable not engaging properly, or perhaps it`s just not engaging fully with the instrument panel speedometer, but I currently don`t have the time to investigate). The heater controls (left-hand lever on the instrument panel) need attention, as the fan cable is extremely stiff. The 2-speed electric fan works absolutely fine. There`s a slight oil leak from the top of engine somewhere around the heater pipes. The wiring is in place for a heated rear window (not connected), rear wiper (not fitted) and rear window washer (not fitted). The switches for these items are obviously also not installed.Odometer 117,500 milesMOT valid until end July 2012Taxed until end January 2012 Engine:Idles fine, and pulls like a train has a rover p 5 points type distributor stainless headers to match the stainless exhaust stystem all again new Even though the vehicle tank takes 75 litres it`s a thirsty beast. Could be an ideal candidate for an LPG conversion - you could put a custom LPG container in each side locker for example. and refinements from the HSE model. Perfect example of the P38.Interior - Near mint condition. Full cream leather with piping and matching carpets. I regularly use Simonz leather treatment throughout. I have installed an after market stereo. Its an Alpine head unit so it is in-keeping with the original stereo (which are all Alpine). Its also green illumination, so same colour as the rest of the dash lights and matches really well. It has a iPod/iPhone connection and full user interface. Also a phone cradle will be included (see pics). Every button, switch, knob and function works exactly as it should.Paint work - Excellent condition, no major scratches / patches. Just the usual age related stuff. The second I have noticed a mark its either been polished out or touched up to prevent rust etc. I have it detailed once a year (4 tier system of polishing, which takes 6-8 hours by hand ). This lasts 2 years but I always do it done once a year. This will become clear when you view the car.Mechanical - No warning lights, runs perfect. No power losses, clunks, clicks, hissing, whirring, knocking or any other dodgy noises. Rev counter nice and still at idle on both LPG and Petrol. Everything has been done straight away regardless of cost. No leaks. No loss of oil or water with a dry driveway to prove. All tyres fully legal lots of tread on all 4. All matching Pirelli Scorpion tyres. 1 tyre will need changing before next winter (just be safe) but loads left to see you through this summer. Alloy wheels are in very good condition, light scratches as expected again for age, but no way do any need re-furb. It has all the fittings for a tow bar (with electrics) including a swan neck bar. However I removed it when I bought the car as I though it looked ugly. It will need a new pin if you intend to fit it back on (few quid from camp` + caravan store) which simply screws in. As a result I have never used it to tow. I have never been off-road in it and judging by the axle and underneath it never has been. So no extra wear and tear on the engine/chassis from the stresses of towing or off-roading. Recently (last 6-8 months) its had a new battery, complete new exhaust, tracking bar and ends and fitted a re-furb Land Rover air suspension pump. Air suspension system now runs perfectly and very quietly. This is all I have had to spend on it since I have had it. LPG - Country wide multi-point system. I have all the paper work including the all important LPG fitting certificate. Had it serviced late last year. Runs perfect. The LPG gauge on the dash is not very accurate, but its best to use the mile odometer rather than the gauge anyway. When I get to 150/160 miles Im looking to re-fill the LPG. 65 ltr tank in spare wheel space = around 175 - 180 mile range. When the LPG runs out, it automatically and instantly switches to petrol with out you having to do anything. I worked it out and you save around 9 - 10p per mile on LPG over petrol. LPG costs around 67 - 72 pence/litre at most private stations, depending on where you go. I also have a map with all the LPG filling station listed in it. I also use an `app` on my phone which tells me where all the stations are in a 10 mile radius. Wherever I have been I have never been more than a few mile from an LPG station. History - Full service history with stamps at miles - 6650, 14650, 22506, 33483. 45395, 49256, 50027, 60649, 70799, 84997 and 98014. 7 of these stamps are Land Rover. Have lots of receipts etc. The last service was done July last year at 98014. The cars covered under 5k miles since then so not due a service for a while. I`ve got every single MoT certificate its ever had, so proof of genuine mileage/history etc. Not cat-d, no insurance issues, no hidden nasties; all HPI clear.Any questions please ask. There are couple of dents on the body work and the usal corrosion spots on the rear door, the side doors have rust holes underneath on the frame which is standard for a defender of this age. seats are in very good condition and seat covers are there just to protect them from wear. The vehicle is currently out of m.o.t but will be m.o.t`d in the next couple of weeks or earlier, and tax runs out at the end of this month. turbo diesel , so i bought a low mileage disco with terminal rot , and employed a local Land rover specialist (LandMark) to carry out a comprehensive sort of the engine and fit the engine into the 110 , this work was carried out to ensure no future problems so new clutch , new crank oil seal , new cambelt , etc etc plus of course new oil , filters etc then a new mot , where the mot man said that the bulkhead and chassis was in fantastic condition , no sign of needing any work , if waxoiled would see us out ! As a land rover obviously has some scars ,but really only on front wings , rear body really been carefully used , tilt still really good order. As is so often the case a bored dog has damaged the seats , but usable or easy to replace .Has really good tyres BF mud terrain , has low mileage as it spent most of its life on a private estate in sussex . Sadly this hasn`t happened due to having too many other vehicles in our collection, which we are slowly getting rid of, including this landrover. The engine runs but is very lumpy, all 4 gears + reverse work ok. It is drivable, as we have driven around our yard, but would have to be collected on trailler etc. We have owned it since 2008, and in that time it has just sat in our yard. It is very dry inside the vehicle. We were advised that it wouldnt cost that much to pass an MOT, but we never got round to it, so someone else can take on this project.The body work was originally factory Brown, but was painted White by the Ambulance conversion company and is recorded as White on the log book.When we took delivery, it still had some Ambulance "fixtures & fittings" in the vehicle - we immediately removed all of these. We brought the correct trim, seats etc etc, so today very little evidence remains that it was a ambulance in a previous life.We are selling it as spares or repair since it hasn`t had an mot since at least 2008. The vehicle is very solid and would welcome any inspection, but no time wasters please - sick to the back teeth of them and heard all the excuses under the sun before.This would make someone a great project. | im selling my land rover due to having to many projects so something had to give unfortunately it was my land rover. | i purchased this about 3-4 years ago as i had a discovery 200tdi to break for bits so decided to use that as a doner vehicle for this 90 so i switched engine, transfer box and front and rear axles. there was obviously a new clutch and cam belt fitted at the same time (engine had done 140k). and then for the year after i slowly bought more accessories as you can see in pics | E.G: | .2 inch lift springs with pro comp dampers.new bump stops all round.polly bushed .kink rear radius arms .rock sliders .winch bumper and winch twin batteries fitted one is about 6 months old .cubby box .rear seats.rear work light.front spot lights | more recently at 129k engine had replacement oil and filters and then just before christmas 2 new cv joints and 2 oil seals for the transfer box were fittedand front pads.and chassis was re-wax oiled and i noticed rear radius arms and rear shocks had started to gather a bit of surface rust so were re painted aswellto keep on top of things. | MOT until October 24th 2012 Taxed until july 11th 2012 | i also have a few spares lying around that can go with the landrover such as: | .front brake calipers with pads.front discs and hubs.power steering/ steering box.and some other little things i cant remember | also a friend of mine who worked for a garage repairing landrovers slightly increased the diesel pump to give it more get up and go. goes very well now. | come downs: if you are expecting a showroom vehicle this is not for you. this is a landrover it has a few dents and scuffs and a nice selection of brush marks from when it was hand painted. its not the most comfortable vehicle on the road and it likes to get a bit of a wobble on when you get your toe down i think thats due to tyres/wheels not being balanced and some times the transmission makes a bit of a rumble. and the engine coolent guage stopped working a few months ago probably just a sensor. | just trying to be honest with you all this is a great fun vehicle especially off road but not the sort of thing you would use daily on the road. | if you wish you can come and have a look but please no time wasters. | cash on collection | winning bidder has agreed to purchase this vehicle | thanks for looking | p.s winning bidder must also promise to wash it and talk nicely to it on a monthly basis lol | X | £2500.00 | |||||||

The Chassis and bulkhead are solid, with a new rear crossmember fitted last year. The bodywork in general is very straight, though the nearside rear lower corner has been creased (see picture), and the body cappings are badly rusted in places (see picture).
