It has previous MOT`s to verify the mileage and has some service history. It also has 7 seats. Extra`s include: Front fitted seat covers, only 1 month old (not in photo`s). Good quality fitted mats front and rear. Dog guard included. Good points: Engine runs sweet, always starts first time - recently had new alternator. Has been waxoyled underneath. Interior is completely unmarked and in outstanding condition, no marks or tears and nice grey hard wearing upholstery. The dash also looks good as new. It has a professionally fitted snorkel, and has a sump guard, but as far as we are aware has never been off-roaded. It is too good to have been. Has a non-genuine CD sterio with MP3 plugin. Not as good points: Inside rear wheel arches have been patched a little with chemical metal - looks a bit ugly, but could be painted over if required. Little bit of corrosion on bottom of front door. Other than the points above, this is a nice example, lovely and solid to drive, not wallowy and is in good condition for the year. It sailed through the MOT with nothing required. Discovery, owned and maintained by us (Bell Engineering, Landrover Specialist) as our main family car for the past 3 years. When i bought this car I searched for months, looking for the best example with all the kit i wanted, and this was the best out there. Land Rovers do have a reputation for having common faults, and this vehical has had a few of them (which have all been rectified), but on the whole has been a very reliable and untroublesome car, far better than alot of our customers cars. I have replaced the following items so you know these will not have to be looked at again for a long time:- | New Front ARB bushes (common failure)New Front dampersNew Trackrod ends and drag linksNew rear suspension airbags (common failure)New Fuel pressure regulator (common failure)Replaced all bulbs in heater control panel (common failure)New fuel line from tank to pump (common failure) | I gave the car a full service at 91k miles, replacing both oil filters, oil, air filter and diesel filter. When we bought the car it had had the updated injector loom fitted so that oil cannot seep into the ECU (common failure), i have checked this several times since owning the vehical and the loom is still dry so no worries about this. The engine pulls well and sounds great (like all TD5`s). | It has 4 very good tyres (fronts are only 4k miles old), the brakes and discs are all in good order. There are no oil or water leaks and the air suspension all works as designed with no leaks or odd behaviour. So you can see the car is in great mechanical condition with no need for any work in the near future. | The bodywork is great condition, no rust, dents or scrapes. The paint work is bright and looks great in the Java black with the bright 18" alloy wheels and chrome side bars. There are a few age related marks, but nothing that you wouldn`t expect on a 10 year old car. Gearbox works fine and does exactly what it should. It has only covered 125k which is not bad for the year | The body work of the car is what you expect from an old land rover and isn‘t perfect, but is solid underneath and as you can see from the photos the door arches have also been sorted. Its had upgraded springs at the rear and as I mentioned before its had the 300 headlights put in. The tires are in good condition with plenty of tread left. Car ran really well and was my main driver back and forward to work (45 mile round trip) each day. The Car developed a hiccup and started cutting out (but starting again straight away). The Land Rover Mechanic advised us it was the fuel injection Solenoid so also had this replaced. This turns out not to be the problem and he now informs us that it must be the lift pump (cheap fix £14.98 on Ebay), but spent to much money on this and have bought a new car and no space in our communal car park so has to go.Car is in good general condition and as mentioned before ran fine with few dings and knocks. Lacquer peeling on drivers side rear door post. Does have the obligatory crunch between 1st and 2nd gear if rushed, but goes in smooth and fine once you get the hang of it :-) Wheel Arches previously welded and boot floor solid.The car has had the EGR blanked off and induction air filter fitted. for a truck of this age), the original leather Land Rover service binder with all the original Discovery documentation. It has MoT until November 5th, and tax is due to run out at the end of the month, but I will tax it for another 6 months. This truck has done some green laning, but mostly been on road as transport to and from work. It is not your standard TDi under the bonnet, as it has been tuned, which was done by Alive Tuning(Jim), but these are all for the benefit of the engine. The list of the modifications is as follows: - EGR blanking kit - Full 304 grade stainless steel exhaust system - Samco XDB silicone boost hoses (lifetime guaranteed) - 2" suspension lift (6 months old) - Castor correction polybush kit - New front discs and pads (4 months ago) - New rear pads (4 months ago) - Extended stainless steel brake hoses (not fitted but will come with the truck) - Roof bar with 4 spot lights (all working) - Kumho A/T tyres - Steering guard - Bilstein steering damper - New clutch (3000 miles ago) - Recently had new injector spill off rail and rocker cover gasket, engine oil changed every 5ooo miles, all others done on service schedule, this is a mechanically sound Discovery in very good condition for its` age. the engine out and scrap the rest, but then I took a closer look at it. The result being that after a couple of hours work it now has a brand new MoT. I just couldn`t bring myself to scrap it.Good points first: the condition of the inner body structure on this vehicle is, by Disco standards, awesome. For the MoT I had to weld up one of the rear body mounts (shown in one of the photos), and patch the boot floor. That is the only welding this vehicle has ever had. Inner wings, sills, floors, rear arches, seat belt mounts, all the places where Discos normally rot are original and rock solid. This is highly unusual as you will know if you have ever had anything to do with old Discos. The chassis is absolutely 100% sound and unwelded. It looks as though the vehicle has been heavily Waxoyled at some stage in its life - that and the fact that it has been dry stored for the last seven years probably explain why it is so good. If you are looking for a solid basis for a project, you will not find a sounder, more rot free Disco than this. The only rot I can find is in the boot floor (mainly above the fuel tank where it cannot be seen from underneath) and the little panels below the headlamps which are non-structural.Engine and gearbox both seem very sound, at least on the short drive to the MoT station and back. Engine pulls very strongly with almost no smoke, gearbox seems quiet and changes gear smoothly, high/low ratio and diff lock all work as they should. Axles, suspension, steering etc all look fine. I have no history at all with the vehicle, and would recommend that the new owner gives it a full service and timing belt change before putting it into regular use. I can quote for this work if required.All the electrics seem to work including the electric windows and central locking (although the door locks are very stiff, probably through lack of use). There is a stereo sticking half-out of the centre console, but I haven`t got round to seeing whether it works. I treated it to a new pair of wiper blades for the MoT.Tyres are 205R16s on standard Discovery steels. One of the fronts is a bit perished, I have a decent tyre and a Disco rim which I will put on it, so you can keep the perished tyre as a spare. On to the bad points: the vehicle is in what a vintage tractor collector would call "ex-farm condition". In other words the interior is absolutely filthy, the seats are ripped, every single piece of interior trim seems to be either broken or missing, and the vehicle smells of mice. The drivers seat base has collapsed so you sit in it rather than on it. It is truly a horrible place to be. Your wife will refuse to travel in it, you can leave it unlocked in complete safety because no-one is going to want to get into it, not even a tramp looking for somewhere to doss down for the night. The good news is that with so many rotten Discos being broken, people with interior stuff can barely give it away, so it should not cost too much to find a better set of seats. The carpets actually seem OK.Body panels - fairly straight, but usual Disco scabby aluminium corrosion on wings and doors, especially nearside rear door. Bumpers are rusty and the paint is falling off them. The pictures flatter the vehicle - it looks worse in real life. Decent panels are not hard to find, and the vehicle is in one of the more popular Disco colours. In any case, a good T Cut and polish, and some better bumpers, would have it looking much smarter for very little money.As mentioned above it has been stored unused since 2005, and probably didn`t get a lot of love in the period before that. So it really needs a full service. The brake discs have a fair amount of surface corrosion (MoT advisory) and although they passed the MoT, the brakes aren`t as sharp as they might be. They might improve with use.To summarise - a solid, strong old Disco that has a full year`s MoT and isn`t going to need £1200 worth of welding a year from now. A couple of hundred quid and a couple of weekends work should be enough to turn this into something very nice and worth keeping.Just to remind you: this is a private sale, I am advertising this on behalf of a friend. That means no warranty. I have done nothing to the vehicle beyond what was needed to get it through the MoT and cannot make any promises about its mechanical condition. It is a nineteen year old Land Rover which has been well-used.
