It does not have the normally asthmatic engine but has been converted to the 200tdi engine from the Land Rover Discovery. Giving it a bit more poke and better fuel economy. the current engine has about 70,000 miles on it It was obtained as the green soft top seen in the pictures. I wanted a more secure vehicle so I spent 6 months on the lookout for a TUL hardtop (the tops are quite rare objects to find. There is a TUM one on ebay currently for 1500!) and fitted it with a brand new rear door. Then It was sprayed in NATO light stone to make it stand out in the car park. Carpet was fitted to the front to reduce the noise from the engine. Recently fitted new wolf rear shocks and springs and changed the belts on the alternator and power assisted steering. is as accurate and honest as I can be, please be assured by my 100% feedback rating. It has a long MOT, with over £1500 spent on the last MOT. This included new swivel joints both sides and various front suspension bits, but no welding needed. Last year has seen this plus new Alternator and belt, new gaskets for rocker cover, water pump and thermostat, new UV joint bearings for front driveshaft, plus usual basic service items.It is remarkably straight for its age and the paint is pretty good apart from a couple of small patches where the vinyl from the large signs I had on it didn`t come off right, plus the usual bits of paint bubbling here and there (you get these on virtually new Landy`s!) It has chequer plate over the bonnet centre, where the original spare wheel mount was and on the rear quarters to tidy up the bit where Diesel inevitably spills! Roofrack is approx 7ft long and full width. The rear is fully ply lined and ready for work, with a flap in the "bulkhead" so the rear can be accessed from the front.Everything works apart from the rear wash-wipe; small rear view with the spare wheel anyway! She does not slip out of gear or anything worrying and the high-low lever works nicely. I understand that a 200Tdi engine would work with this gearbox if you wanted more power.Engine is first generation Turbo Diesel. Mechanically pretty good: starter motor spins a bit sometimes and doesn`t engage on the flywheel, a few small weeps here and there; coolant from one of the heater hoses, power steering fluid from the pump. Otherwise pretty good.Tyres are BFGoodrich TracEdge all round on painted steel wheels. All road legal. Good quiet road tyres but not great in mud! Allegedly this engine is more powerful and generates rather better fuel economy too. It certainly performs very well indeed. | Nice spec - fitted with power steering, a set of 4 8-spoke wheels with huge 33x12.5x15 mud tyres, front A bar & roof bar with extra lights, chequerplate wingtops, sidesteps, and towpack with rear step. Also fitted with County roof with sunroof, alpine lights, sliding side windows, and full headlining. Inside it has twin rear bench seats, a dog guard, radio/CD and sports steering wheel | It both looks rather tough and goes really well too, and is ready for some serious fun. | Odometer reading 135000 miles | Comes with MOT to August 2012 and road tax to end April 2012 too | On a fast 90-mile run on arrival it performed very nicely indeed, and, as I’ve previously said, the engine conversion transforms it in many ways | Further detail: | The body on this one is very straight indeed by older Land Rover standards, with just a couple of dents to the barrelside of the NS door. . There`s little electrolytic reaction bar on the tailgate. See video for more details. Apart from some localised touching in on scuttle corners, hinges and tub trims the paint on all except the front door and front wings looks original, and hence is a little flat. I think both front doors and front wings have been replaced with new ones at some point, as the colour is slightly more vivid. Both scuttle corners look very good (although presumably have had work) as do both A posts and front footwells. . The (presumed original tailgate bottom frame is very good, and as above I think both front doors have been replaced - certainly original 22-year old ones rarely look this good. Obviously expect slightly wavy panels and minor imperfections etc - it`s still an older Landy after all that and blemishes give it character, but apart from the above, there`s little to criticise save for some marks on the roof. . . See video | Interior – very nice indeed overall, and quite civilised and clean, with good seats etc. Nothing to criticise really except the gear lever gaiter is coming adrift a little, and the radio aerial wiring could be tidier. | Starts on the button and performed very well indeed on a 90 mile test - didn`t display any signs of overheating or hesitancy, with a nice (if slightly notchy) gearbox, better steering than you`d expect given the big tyres, good brakes, and no noticeable backlash in the transmission. throughout with full Main Dealer service history with Colliers Birmingham. This has always been a local Birmingham vehicle, originally a demo and then two owners at the same address/family before me. It has a Skytag tracker fitted for additonal protection which would require an additonal small monthly subscription (between £7 and £11 depending on service required). The Boost Alloy wheels are in excellent condition and fitted with General Grabber TR tyres which are almost new. The four vehicle tyres have around 12mm of tread and the spare 8mm. Bodywork is excellent for the vehicle age and the bulkhead corners are corrosion free. There are only a few dints resulting from 16 years of use and only a small amount of electrolytic corrosion which is mainly confined to the rear door. The chassis is good but a couple of plates were welded onto the rear cross member for the last MOT to bring it back to sound condition. The combination of a relatively easy life and service history means there is no slack in the drivetrain and therefore no clunks when taking up the drive or changing gear which is normally typical of most older Defenders. Also included is a small mdf box for the rear which is carpeted for shackles and slings etc. Winch is wireless or contoller can be plugged into winch to controll isolater on passanger footwell/bulkhead, also all the axle breathers are raised up to just under the bonnet. Anything else i remember ill keep updating. | All new wheel bearings, hub seals etc, new battery march 2011, clutch in 2007 (approx 6,000miles since) valve clearances checked 17/7/11, proper sump gasket made instead of standard sealant gasket, 50% of water hoses replaced as some rubbed slightly before rebuild on aux pulley. New bonnet lining & gas struts on bonnet. Low coolant alarm fitted and wired up to a buzzer in case coolant is lost for any reason. Alarm is also an immobilizer. And there are obviosely no advisorys from latest MOT. | also the lift kit has heavy duty springs, procomp shocks and has dislocating cones/turrets front and rear. find of this year. County specification includes many factory fitted extras which include; Soft A bar with "DEFENDER" logo this really sets off the front of the car especially with the driving lamps. Minimal checkerplate fitted to the front bumper, sills, sidesteps and the bottoms of the rear wings. I am not a huge fan of checker plate however this was fitted by Land rover from new, it does have a practical use and I see many Land Rovers that suffer from paint wear on the sills and stone chips on the rear wings so it can be forgiven to some degree. Cloth seats again untorn and in great condition, (vinyl seats tend to crack). Boost Alloy wheels. Colour Coded wheel arches and roof. Rubber over mats in the cabin and load space, they really help with sound deadening. Land Rover adjustable tow bar with standard ball but also a pin type hitch. Front and rear Anti Roll bars. Sidesteps. Heated front wind screen In addition to these factory extras i have upgraded the standard windscreen wash system by fitting wiper arms with integrated washer jets as i found the standard land rover system of one wash jet in the centre of the screen completely inadequate this is a seemless installation and if wanted could be put back to standard in about an hour. I have also fitted cruise control to the car it is activated by 2 land rover switches installed in the pre existing holes in the dash if you didnt know it was there you would never know. This again could be removed easily if required. The bodywork is in great condition, it has picked up the odd scratch and ding but it is obvious that this has been a well cared for vehicle all its life. I have the original Land Rover service portfolio which shows lots of history for the vehicle, all from the same Land Rover dealer. I have serviced the vehicle myself since buying it I have always used genuine Filters and oils throughout. Mechanically the vehicle is in perfect condition ready for work or play it has never broken down whilst it has been in my care. It is fitted with original equipment General Grabber TR tyres in 235/85/16 which is the ideal size. They are a road pattern giving good handling in the wet and dry, the front tyres look like new and the rears are at about 80%. Road pattern they may be but Land Rover designed their products to go anywhere in the world on standard rubber. used really since March this year, What can I tell you, it is a genuine CSW, fitted with genuine (out of the factory) Air Con, Power Steering, Alpine Roof lights etc. It has had one previous owner which was Norfolk Police , was maintained really well by them (as all police cars are), told it had a new engine at about 95K a little way before it was sold off, but have no paperwork to support this i`m afraid, although the engine runs more like one having done 70K not 175K !. I think this was pretty rarely used by them and was in very good condition when sold. have added approx 80K miles without any trauma or trouble at all, it has now done just under 175K.It has always been maintained well, by a local land rover specialist, have also changed the diff oil regularly in addition to the usual specialist servicing.It has upgrade TerraFirma Shocks and Springs just over a year ago, this gives a lift of approx +2 inches, also benefits from TerraFirma steering damper as wellIt also has Brown Church roof rack fitted with spot lights (correctly with dual relays and direct feeds etc), rock sliders as well.Has genuine Land Rover alloys wheels in superb condition fitted with excellent Cooper Tyres which give a good balance between road and light off road performance. worry. It really does pull like a train. The tune cost over £1100 and there is a receipt from JE for the work. There is also a sports exhaust fitted to compliment the tune which sounds lovely. The hoses have been upgraded to silocone hoses and a Kenlow fan has been fitted. To assist the stopping, drilled and slotted discs with upgraded calipers have been fitted. Also the hand brake has been upgraded to a disc type. The bodywork is in fantastic condition with none of the usual dents that are common on Landrovers. Inside the seats are in very good condition and will come with waterproof covers, (not the ones shown in the pictures). There is a steel lockable cubbybox for extra security. The car has a Thatcham CAT 1 alarm imoboliser fitted. At the moment there is a Exmoor trim fume curtain fitted to keep the cab area warmer in this cold weather and will be included in the sale. A sport steering wheel has been fitted but the OE steering wheel is included. The tyres as you can see are nearly new as are the wheels, including the spare that has never been used. The roof is as new and is not a cheap plasic item, but a quality mohair item. There has been a roll bar fitted and the rear tub is chequre plated. The spare wheel is sitting on a good quality swing away carrier which has grease nipples to ensure long life and no rusting hinges. Underneith the suspension has been lifted by 2 inches and Bilstein shocks and coils have been fitted. There original bushes have been replaced with Polybushes. There are heavy duty steering rods which are in turn protected with a steering gaurd with recovery points. Diff guards are fitted as is a fuel tank gaurd. The chassis is Waxoiled.A Snorkle and wading kit have been fitted. To finish off good quality galvanised rock sliders were fitted with jacking points. There is a heavy duty front bumper and A bar at the front with tubular bumpets at the rear. LED side,brake and indicators have been fitted and are very bright. There are just over 83000 miles showing which can be proved by the MOT certificates . There is a load of receipts for all of the above and service parts. this stunning-looking 1987/E Land Rover 90 County Station Wagon 2.5 Turbo Diesel, in 6 seater spec, that’s just undergone a professional external refurbishment and respray in Epsom Green metallic with limestone roof. | Apart from being a genuine County Station Wagon (and LEZ compliant from Jan 2012) with its higher trim level etc, this one is a rare find in that it has only had 3 owners from new including just one lady owner since 1992. | Odometer reading 133000 miles. | It has the usual CSW spec, including Power steering, factory steering guard, side & rear steps, sliding rear windows & alpine lights, county cloth interior including 4 individual folding rear seats & cubby box, mudflaps, headlamp wash, and towpack,. | It comes with long MOT to October 2012 (with no advisories) looks utterly superb, and on a 90-mile run it performed exceptionally well. | Further detail: | The body and paintwork on this one are exceptionally clean by older Land Rover standards, with few if any dents. It has just recently had a professional respray in Epsom Green Metallic - it was originally green. The finish is generally very good indeed with just a little orange peel here and there, but it`s at least as good as one straight from the factory. There is no electrolytic reaction that I can see. . used really since March this year, What can I tell you, it is a genuine CSW, fitted with genuine (out of the factory) Air Con, Power Steering, Alpine Roof lights etc. It has had one previous owner which was Norfolk Police , was maintained really well by them (as all police cars are), told it had a new engine at about 95K a little way before it was sold off, but have no paperwork to support this i`m afraid, although the engine runs more like one having done 70K not 175K !. Defender 10 months ago in the state as shown in the last few photos (White Defender). I`ve spent alot of time putting in the hard graft to bring her upto the state she is today and have loved owning and running about in it for the last 8 months. It`s been an on going project and slowly had more bits added over time. I have modified it and made it fit for purpose as i needed it in my job as a self employed agricultural engineer, so shes been a workhorse and used off road regularly. She has also been used as a weekend toy on the green lanes and off road courses around in my area. It works extrememly well on and off road, and has got plenty of kit on it to help it do it with ease. As for the exterior well you can see a fair bit of work has gone into it, but I`ll explain that lower down. The interior ive replaced the front seats with a pair of half leather bucket car seats, made a centre box console for storage with CB Radio holder (has one fitted) and cup/can holder. Fitted an RDX centre dash console with new cd player, added stainless steel surrounds to all instrument panels, new steering boss with small sports steering wheel. In the back its boarded out with wood then foam filled to help with road noise and to help with keeping the heat in, also carpeted out with dark grey carpet and a transit heater box in the back which is plumbed into the water system. Two new genuine land rover bench seats with 4 lap belts fitted. Custom made rear cage to seperate work area, or for the dog, shelves at one side and a custom made spare wheel point of attachment. Chassis and engine mods ive done to her: Resprayed it blue, new rear 1/4 chassis, heavy duty cranked rear arms, Nylon bush kit, replacement 2" lift front springs and shockers, britpart heavy duty steering arms, heavy duty steering damper, new big core radiator, water pump, lift pump, re-conditioned injectors, new heater plugs, head gasket, power steering pump, heavy duty clutch, fuel sender, K&N filter, new starter motor, off side CV joint, adjustable tow bar and rear step, and all this work has been done in the last 6 months. 3 years and is being used as a second vehicle. It starts first time every time and drives well for a landy. I bought the Landy from a Farm where it spent the last few years being used as a work horse so was in daily use. | I had it MOT`d in mid October where it sailed through apart from needing a new fuel tank and a few other minor bits and bobs. I recently had the chassis checked and repaired where needed, so no worries about the chassis falling apart on this Landy. The Road Tax has expired so I have registered it as SORN. The Landy has covered 209800 miles with FLRSH up until 135K, since owing the Landy I have serviced it myself. As mentioned, it runs well and is reliable, last year I used it for over a month on a daily run of around 100 miles and it never missed a beat. It has all the normal dents, scratches and worn seats etc as you can see from the photos and what would be expected from living on a farm. I replaced the rear door last year as the old one was knackered, unfortunately the colour differs slightly and I still need to fit the checker plate on to the inside of the door. Also I have bought new keys and barrels for the doors as I lost the door key but again have not had time to fit them. Obviously I have the ignition key! There is some rust on the front doors, just along the bottom edge which would be easy to repair if needed. New battery fitted last month30+ MPG Tow bar with ball and pin fitting. Good tyres all round If you want any more photos just ask and I will be happy to email them. Any inspection welcome so please come and view, I live in Midhurst West Sussex.
