for an extra £50)This is the classic go anywhere vehicle. gave it a run today after two months sat idle and it started on the third turn, its a nice looking landy.for those who have never driven a series 3 don`t expect new car style ride, this is a utility vehicle excellent for its job, but lacks modern frills, for air conditioning slide the windows open,no power steering but I have replaced the little steering wheel in the pics with a normal larger series 3 wheel (you are welcome to the old one if you have muscles big enough to use it) Tax runs out this month, will negotiate if I have to put some more on it - (wont sorn the vehicle), small problem with speedo, worked fine on first half of run today but stopped on way home, I think its probably just come loose at one end as it was waggling about a bit last time I drove her, will try to look at it but should be fairly easy fix if i don`t have time.2 Haynes manuals and the handbook also with the car.Viewings welcome as are test drives if you are insured (I will need proof)Its a nice car and great fun, just don`t have time to use it. This is the last of the series 3 Landies, so it has, as standard; 5 bearing engine Synchromesh on all 4 gears Servo brakes 11" brake drums on the front with twin leading shoes (2 cylinders per wheel), and 10" rear brake drums Hazzard lights Rear fog light We bought this Land Rover from someone who had started to rebuild it but never finished it. The chassis is in fantastic condition, it has been painted then waxoiled. It is perfectly sound and very solid. The bulkhead and foot wells are also very sound and solid with no rust. We have fully waxoiled the vehicle so it will prevent rust for ages. It has four 7.50 x 16 decent tyres, but no spare unfortunately. These tyres are great on the road and in the mud. We have rebuilt all the brakes, including new hoses. And they are in tip top condition. We`ve fitted new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. New battery. The steering is in perfect condition and is light and responsive. ALL other parts and components are in perfect condition. We`ve services it, new antifreeze, brake fluid, oils, filters, spark plugs etc. We`ve just fitted a new thermostat as well, so it gets to the correct temperature and the heater is nice and hot. It has 3 front seats with 2 seat belts. The rear body has windows installed which make it much better to drive, as you can see left and right at junctions! Driving this Landy reminds you of how good old Land Rovers are. It is light, simple and very easy to drive. Everything works as it should. The perfect vehicle for throwing all your camping gear in and going off to some remote part of Wales for a weekend of walking. Or chuck you chain saw in the back and go off in to the woods to do some logging. It is such a neat vehicle, it`s vehicles like this that put the `Great` into Great Briton! Leavers to operate the 4 wheel drive, switches you can use with gloves on. No power steering, no central locking, and no electric anything!! It doesn`t need it. Such a simple vehicle. Really easy to maintain and spare parts are very cheap and available anywhere in the world. There are only a couple of tiny things on this Landy that are not quite right. The sliding window channel in the front doors is not great. The windows slide and work fine, but the felt from the channel has gone in some places. The ignition switch does not spring back from the starter motor position, so when the engine has started you have to turn the key back to the ignition position, to be honest with this little fault I think it might simply be due to lack of use, it might sort it`s self out over the next few weeks or so. The heater fan only works on one speed (fast!), it should have 2 speeds). The rear diff does hum when you`re driving along fast, I guess the bearings are a little worn. And that`s it! For a vehicle that is 30 years old that is fantastic! I bet there won`t be many 2012 Range Rover Evokes on the road in 2042!! But if you keep waxoiling this little Landy there is a very good chance it could still be on the road in 2042! of the ever-popular Land Rover Series III, this one an 88in petrol softtop, refinished in Bronze Green with tan Exmoor Trim hood | An original 2.25 petrol model, it’s had just one enthusiastic owner since 1995 who’s lavished money on it. In 2000 it underwent a full galvanised chassis fitment by Crow Engineering, and in 2010 it underwent a serious mechanical refurbishment by Glencoyne Engineering. There’s a massive sheaf of bills and old MOT’s from 1995 which show it’s only covered approx 10000 miles since 1995. | It’s specification includes the following: | Galvanised chassis & front bumper | Overdrive and freewheel front hubs | New Exmoor trim hood with side windows | Matching set of 4 Avon rangemaster 750x16 tyres | Chequerplate to wingtops | Front lightguards | Towpack & front towball | Military doortops. | Inside there are Exmoor trim type high back cloth front seats with matching cubbybox and twin rear bench seats making it a 6 seater, | Odometer reading 18000 miles, presumably 118000, not that it matters given the work carried out. | Comes with MOT to September 2012 and road tax to end March 2012 too 9 although that’s free anyway) | I’ve owned and driven several Series III models over the years, and this is one of the nicest, most well-sorted examples l’ve had. | And of course, being petrol, it’s LEZ compliant. | .Further detail: | The body and paintwork on this one are very straight by Land Rover standards, and whilst the paint hasn`t been applied by spraygun or roller it still looks pretty smart, with a deep finish and a good shine. Obviously expect slightly wavy panels and minor imperfections etc - it`s still an older Landy after all that and blemishes give it character, but apart from the above, there`s little to criticise save for: some small dinks in the wings and doors. The hood is as new. . . See video | Interior – excellent seats front and rear, no nasty smells etc. A couple of small splits in the dashtop is all that detracts. See video | Started on the button and performed without apparent fault on test - with no overheating, hesitancy or misfiring, a nice precise gearbox etc, sharp steering & braking, minimal transmission backlash & an unusually quiet overdrive .
